Local Spotlight: My Favorite Nonprofit

Hi! It’s no surprise that I have a very, very soft spot for a local nonprofit here in Charleston and I wanted to take a moment to highlight it here.
What’s the nonprofit?

My beloved, South Carolina Aquarium.

The Aquarium is hands down my favorite place in Charleston and I feel SO privileged to be involved with them. If you didn’t know, I am the President of the Ocean Alliance Committee and we are a board of local, young professionals who share the goal of advancing the mission of the Aquarium while sharing our love of the Aquarium with our networks.
To say it’s a privilege, is a true understatement. It’s an honor.

Ocean Alliance has the most special program that we strive to focus our fundraising on when there are not other Aquarium events happening (like Gala, Sea Life by Starlight and the JuLionFish Festival). Our fundraising focus of choice is the Angelfish Program. This impactful program provides free and reduced-cost opportunities for thousands of visitors each year through tickets, memberships and open access events!

My committee is hosting a WONDERFUL event in a few weeks and I would be BEYOND thrilled to invite all local friends to our event, Cocktails for a Cause: “Join the South Carolina Aquarium Ocean Alliance, a group of passionate professionals dedicated to amplifying the mission and work of the Aquarium, as they host Cocktails for a Cause at the Harbour Club at WestEdge. Gather your friends and enjoy a night out benefiting the Angelfish Program at the South Carolina Aquarium, which removes barriers to access and provides complimentary opportunities for the community to visit the Aquarium. Select vendors will also be onsite to sell their goods, with a portion of sales going back to the Angelfish Program. Whether you take it shaken, stirred, neat or on the rocks, every drink (or product) purchased helps the Aquarium invite more community members to enjoy education and wonder of water, wildlife and wild places!”
