Hello? Hello? Hello! Someone tell me where the months of August and September went? A birthday trip, a birthday party, a tomato dinner and A LOT of work and family stuff. It was a month. And then I blinked and it’s September . . . and October this week.
Life has been good, great, crazy and busy. I really am so fortunate, but lawd sometime there are not enough hours in the day!
Which leads me to the news that’s not really ‘news’ for anyone other than myself:
I sold Blue Gold Sports at the beginning of the summer.
After eight years, countless stories, and dozens of interns, that chapter of my life has closed. I’m no longer a member of the WVU media, but just a good ole normal fan. It’s strange and liberating all at the same time. Why did I sell? I’m sure three of you want to know: it lost its luster and became a lot of extra work on my already overfull plate.
I’ve got some new projects coming ahead. I hate “stay tuned” but I can’t wait to share the new things coming.
Next new news: I’m rebranding my Friday faves into A Sunday Spot. I’ve personally found that I love the beginning of a week more than I love the end of the week (maybe it’s the real estate part of me that works A LOT on weekends?!), but over the past several weeks it’s been on my mind to shift the series.
So today is day one of A Sunday Spot.
Back to a little life update, here’s what I’ve been up to lately!
-The first Monday of August I attended an outstanding event hosted by local bookstore, Buxton Books, that featured my favorite author; Adriana Trigiani. Adriana’s new book is going to be at the top of my favorite books of the year. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve really loved meeting creatives and those who inspire me, she was no different and starting my week on this high (after a chaos-filled Monday) was a true delight.
Order her book, trust me.
-We swapped my birthday trip location this year! For the first time in several years, we skipped Miami and headed north-ish! A week in the Highlands in North Carolina was truly just what we needed. Cooler temps, hiking and sadly LOTS of rain. I wore the cutest fall Tuckernuck dress for my birthday and I love it. I also ordered a mini and it’s been the best transition dress.
-We are officially mid-move for Poppy! Ohio house is on the market and my bff is living in our house in Morgantown for the football season, with our goal of him being in Charleston by the holidays!
-Football season! As I said above, I’ve hung up my blue gold sports hat and am a regular ole fan now. I’ve been to two games this season and by the time you read this, I’ll have hit my third (an uphill battle of a game, pre-crossing my fingers for a win!)
-Last weekend I had the best two day trip I’ve taken in a really, really long time. I flew to New York to visit friends and go to Dan Pelosi’s dinner at James Beard celebrating his new cookbook. Stop what you’re doing right now and order it. The avocado ranch dressing. Holy moly. I wore the perfect shirtdress I bought this spring. Love it.
What I’m Loving Lately:
-I love anything tortoise shell, and these slingbacks are no different.
-I have major regrets for not ordering this ivory top when it was in stock, but I’m on text notifs for the restock!
-I really want a wine colored dress, I’m leaning toward a maxi and have this one in my cart. But will it swallow me? Do I “need” another larger maxi?
-I ordered chocolate brown flats. I can safely say I EXHAUSTED my options looking for chocolate brown flats in New York, and ultimately settled on the pair I had looked at first!
This has already felt long-ish after a month+ away, so enjoy the rest of your Sunday and I’ll see you at this spot next Sunday 🙂
