Snack Time: My Favorite Midday Treats

It’s no secret how much I love to eat and cook. Another thing I love? Snacks. I love a midday treat. In a perfect world, they’re healthy treats. But sometimes. Sometimes, I just truly need a midday treat. Sharing some of my favorite snacks (healthy and . . . a little more fun 🙂 ).

Let’s go healthy first. Healthy snacks are truly always a good idea. My days are usually jam-packed from the start, so I really love a good snack break. I am admittedly not the best about eating breakfast (or lunch some days), so these are the snacks I rely on to get me through my days!

Nature’s Bakery Fig Bars are my holy grail to get through the day. I truly love them so much. I buy mine at Costco when I’m in a pinch, but they sell them everywhere (and Amazon!). There was an aggressive amount of fig bars in my carryon bag to Paris two weeks ago.

Cinnamon Belvita Crackers. Be still my heart. I love these alone, but I also really love these with my favorite peanut butter . . .

Better’N Peanut Butter (low fat, low sodium) is my holy grail of peanut butter. It’s a refrigerated peanut butter and does not get oily. It’s absolutely delicious on honey crisp apples as well. (Or with a spoon. Or on a date warmed just slightly in the microwave).

These are my three go-to near daily snacks. Add in grapes, apples and seasonal fruits and some cauliflower and broccoli and you’ve got a good overview of what my healthy snacks are everyday.

I try my best to be consistent with healthy snacks, but I have a major sweet tooth and sometimes that wins. When I am in the mood for sweet treats (often), my favorite thing to do is to portion control them. I take out a cute Le Creuset ramekin or a fun plate and decide what my sweet tooth desires. Pick a snack, put out a serving size of that treat (aka candy) and leave it on the kitchen counter. I snack throughout the day!
Normally, I’m good at just leaving it at one serving size of candy, but some days (when it’s been A DAY), I have more. Not the end of the world!
Here’s my favorite sweet treat snacks!

Sour Patch Kids. Let me count the ways I love these. I’m working my way through a variety pack of different flavors, all in snack-sized bags. Current obsession: the tropical kids. I get so much joy out of a little bowl of these on my kitchen counter during my work day.

Trader Joe’s Scandinavian Swimmers. There’s a gummy trend here, clearly. I love anything aquarium-related, so these just track and seem very on brand for me. The seahorses are my favorite.

Glazed Pecans don’t necessarily fall into a super unhealthy snack, but I can’t get enough of these. I always have a few bags in my pantry for both midday treats and a salad topper. There’s nothing better than a little crunch in a salad.

Peanut M&Ms are my final pantry snack staple. I have to have them wherever I am. Planes, visiting family, both houses. I love a party sized bag of M&Ms in the pantry.

Finally, I pretty much consist on fruit and veggies through the day. I’m constantly peeling an orange, grabbing a handful of grapes or slicing up an apple.
