A Sunday Spot: 28

Oh hello from . . . the airport!
I missed this corner of the internet so much the last two weeks but I was in . . . OMAHA.
(For reference, I am only saying Omaha like Florence sings FLORIDA in her song with Taylor)
I flew out this past Thursday for the NCAA College World Series. West Virginia was in the World Series for the first time in program history and I didn’t have major plans so off I went! I had never been to Nebraska before, and I love both the Mountaineers and solo travel, so girl math won.

Yes, taking a trip the weekend before a BIG TRIP is wild, but the heart wants what the heart wants. And my heart wanted middle America, baseball and hot dogs.

The middle of this month has been . . . A BLUR. Home, travel woes to Omaha, home. Unpack, repack, North Carolina. Now, I’m off to LONDON and France for several weeks. Ahh I am so thrilled it is unreal.

Let’s talk shoes briefly. If you aren’t going to a coastal town, do you need to depend on a sandal for your trip? I struggle with this. I have ordered a cute pair of New Balances (brought them to Omaha!) and a great pair of mary janes that I also brought to Omaha (no blisters!!) but I struggle to not pack 5-7 pair of shoes for EVERY. SINGLE. TRIP.
(this trip is no different).
I am obsessed with the NBs I bought and so far I’ve wound up loving the mary janes — wore them for my travel days and my off day in Omaha (pro tip: go to the zoo).

We’re off for over two weeks in London and France, and it sounds so trite but I need the break. I’m hoping to disconnect from work truly as much as possible minus a few small things!

Speaking of work: My downtown townhome is still on the market, and I would be so appreciative if you would share it with your people!

The mahjong tiles are packed, the needlepoint is ready to be stitched and I have a PILE of books and audiobooks. I really can’t wait.

My books for the next few weeks:
A dark family drama with a questionable child
The third in a detective series I am loving
Obama’s top book of 2024
A murderous dinner party
One more Freida for good measure

A few of my last minute trip purchases to make life easier out of the country:
Travel self tanner for face and for body
-I am addicted to this body moisturizer, especially for travel. I bought the full-size for both of use to use this trip!
-I know we’re going to the land of pharmacies, but I grabbed a basic, clean moisturizer when I noticed my daily use one was almost on E!
-An impulse purchase, I realized I NEEDED a pair of easy, not fancy sandals for bopping around. Enter TKEES. The perfect pair. The easiest price. The comfort.
-My hair DRIES out in Europe, so I have been proactive using an overnight serum for the week, and packed it with me! I love how it hydrates without making my hair gross.

Way far off topic, but the Hill House Rainbow Fish collection speaks to my soul. This mini halter, the pjs, the mini cosmetic bag. My, oh my!

I’m leaving you with a few links I LOVE from Brooke & Lou. I can’t get enough.
Bookends. Shells. Off-white. A recipe for coastal perfection. (I have a friend who these would be perfect for!)
-Brass is in. I said it. Combined with shells and we are living my 90s child summer nostalgia fully. The way I love a little mini dish, let me just tell you. Look at the soap dish, too!
-The moment I picked up my new needlepoint pillow from finishing, I just KNEW that I needed new bedding. My headboard is navy, so I want either light blue or white. I think the new coverlet from Brooke & Lou is perfect.

I’m off! I can’t wait to share when I am back! Follow along if you want!
Again, if you have any recommendations for these areas, send them my way! I love to hear what other people love when they
travel!

xx
